Neighbors Helping Neighbors
For the last 25 years, the Arkansas Rice Depot has been working to alleviate hunger in Arkansas. We believe that the key to ending hunger is found in the Arkansas tradition of neighbors helping neighbors through church and community action at the local level.

The Arkansas Rice Depot is committed to supporting the hunger relief efforts of churches and organizations that are reaching out beyond their own members, families and congregations. We are

especially interested in food pantries that have hours of operation accessible to both working and non-working families as well as pantries that can deliver food to shut-ins

We also appreciate programs that take the time to talk with the individuals requesting assistance and offer them respect, compassion, prayer and suggestions for those whose life situation demands more than temporary food assistance.

Pantry able to handle all clients through support of Rice Depot
   "I would like to thank you and the Arkansas Rice Depot for all the help that has been provided.
   "We were blessed that we were able to meet the needs of our clients every Saturday that we were open. It is important that you know that none of this would have been possible without our partnership with the Arkansas Rice Depot.
   "On an average Saturday, we serve 60 to 70 families and 170 to 200 people. Based on the Arkansas Rice Depot's support there are many occasions that children don't go hungry, families will eat meals together and senior citizens will avoid having to decided whether they should buy food instead of their much-needed prescription drugs.
   "God blessed us that we were able to serve our neighbors in need.
   "Again, this would not have been possible without the support of the Arkansas Rice Depot. With your help, we'll make next year even better than the year we completed!"

Rice Depot helps pantry assist growing number of families
   "Our food pantry operation would serve far fewer families if it weren't for the outstanding resources of the Arkansas Rice Depot. The pantry items we receive monthly from the Depot are crucial to our ability to serve an average of more than 50 families per month.
   "We serve one and usually more new families each month due, we believe, to the continuing downturn in the economy. We now serve several Spanish-speaking families, as well. From among all the families we serve, several have a large number of children. We also serve several elderly who, because of the ongoing struggle they have with living on meager incomes, view our pantry as a blessing from God."
