Allison Leigh Stroud

Allison

Allison Leigh Stroud passed away on February 22, 2010. She was 38.

We here at the Rice Depot are mourning the loss of a friend, colleague and family member.

Allison was a dedicated friend, mother, daughter and employee. She worked at Arkansas Rice Depot for the last 16 years as program director, and was instrumental in developing Food For Kids, our program that sends children in Arkansas home with a backpack filled with food after the schoolday is over. This innovative program has been adopted by organizations all over the country. Rice Depot now serves over 25,000 Arkansas children through Food For Kids.

Allison was incredibly dedicated to ending hunger in Arkansas. She worked tirelessly at the Rice Depot, often even when she should have been at home recuperating from serious illnesses. She was not only a great mother to her own four children, but also a great surrogate mother to the many children in Arkansas who suffer from hunger.

Allison made a weekly contribution to Arkansas Rice Depot. And in her honor, we're hoping you'll also consider a financial gift. Just $30 buys food for one child for a month.
